If you know me at all, even a little bit, you know that I USED to have an intense fear of flying.
I mean intense.
Like the kind of fear….(insert shame face here) where I would take prescribed medication, time it just so, drink a glass (or three) of wine, and pour myself into a seat on the plane- unconscious for the flight. So dangerous by the way (imagine an emergency and I can’t really function….).
Immediately after flying, I would always text my closest friends something like this:
“Mother f’er that flight was HORRIBLE. It was SO bumpy, I think the wing broke and the captain crapped himself….or wait…maybe that was me…”
I would cry when I didn’t take the medication. I mean like sob; can’t catch my breath, people are staring, and I am uncontrollably crying.
I would get angry when I didn’t take the medication. Like mad at myself for being afraid, mad that the plane had duct tape on the window, made that the weather was, well being weather; just mad.
If I didn’t take the medication (which I hated by the way because of the terrible headache after), I would drink, no matter what time of day it was (think 6am and I am at the bar) at least three glasses of wine.
If you don’t have the picture here, let me put it this way: I wanted to change the state of being I was in so that IF that plane was gonna crash, I was not gonna give a damn-I was gonna be singing and dancing (or unconscious) the whole way down.
I teach my clients how to use the power of their thoughts to change their life. To attract abundance, to attract health, to attract love, to attract the things they desire. I also teach them how to change the negative circumstances in their life- by changing their thoughts.
And yet, I wasn’t using my own teachings in all the areas of my life.
About six months ago I started taking my own advice. In a couple specific areas of my life. Can you say COMPLETELY CHANGED ME? And still changing, transforming, growing.
It’s funny because I have seen and experienced these changes with clients, and I have had them occur in other areas of my life, yet I never used it to tackle some big fears or issues in my own life.
By reprogramming my thinking, I can now, without medication OR wine, get on a flight and enjoy the flight. Seriously. You might not think that is a big deal- for me- it IS. A. Big. Deal.
I also used the same techniques on myself regarding running. Which I USED to hate. And now…I completely love. Like…love it (again…if you knew me at all before…you would know I would bt$*% about running almost daily).
So how do you reprogram your thoughts?
First…why would you want to reprogram?
- To remove fears
- To remove negative barriers & obstacles
- To attract more of what we want
The concept is easy; the application takes practice. Lot’s and lot’s of practice. So before you attempt to change your programming- you need to be sure of one thing:
Do you really want the change?
You will need that desire for change, for a difference, to lead you through the activities and the work of reprogramming.
But it works. 100% of the time. It works.
