Hey, love! Let’s talk about intuition—that little voice inside that’s always whispering (or sometimes screaming) what’s best for us.
We all have it. That gut feeling. That deep knowing. That “something just feels off” or “this is exactly where I’m meant to be” moment. But how often do we actually listen to it?
I’ll be the first to admit—I haven’t always trusted my intuition. And when I haven’t? Ohhh, the obstacles that have followed. But when I do? Even when it’s scary, uncomfortable, or goes against what makes sense on paper? It leads me exactly where I need to be.
When I Ignored My Intuition (and Paid for It)
Let’s rewind to a time when I knew something wasn’t right but ignored it anyway.
Years ago, I took on a project that, from the outside, looked amazing. It checked all the “right” boxes—big opportunity, financial security, impressive collaborations. But from the very beginning, I felt uneasy. My gut was waving red flags like crazy, but I talked myself out of it:
“This is just fear talking.”
“You’re being dramatic.”
“You can make it work.”
Spoiler alert: It was a disaster. The environment was toxic, my energy was drained, and I felt trapped in something that wasn’t aligned with me. And you know what? That little voice inside KNEW IT ALL ALONG. But I let logic, external validation, and “shoulds” override what my intuition was screaming at me.
Lesson learned: When your gut says NO, listen the first time.
When I Trusted My Intuition (and It Led Me Exactly Where I Needed to Be)
Now, let’s flip the script.
When I first had the idea of creating my own retreats, I hesitated. The logical part of me had doubts:
“What if no one signs up?”
“What if it fails?”
“You don’t have it all figured out yet.”
But deep down? I just knew. My heart lit up at the thought. My body felt at peace when I envisioned it. Every time I sat still and got quiet, my intuition whispered: “This is it.”
So I leaped. And guess what? It wasn’t the easiest path, but it was absolutely the right one. Hosting retreats has been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done, and it all started because I finally decided to trust myself.
How Retreats Help You Tune Into Your Intuition
One of the biggest reasons I love retreats? They create space for you to hear yourself again.
We’re all so busy—distracted by schedules, social media, outside opinions, and the never-ending to-do list—that we rarely get quiet enough to hear our own inner wisdom.
At a retreat, something shifts. There’s a slowing down, a deep exhale, a reconnection to yourself. And suddenly, that voice inside? It gets louder. Clearer. Stronger.
Here’s how we tap into that during retreats:
- Meditation & Stillness – When was the last time you sat in total silence and just listened? Meditation helps clear the noise so you can hear what your intuition is saying.
- Journaling Prompts – Writing pulls out thoughts you didn’t even realize were there. We use guided journaling exercises at retreats to get out of our heads and into our hearts.
- Nature & Grounding Practices – There’s something about being in nature—whether it’s the ranch, the beach, or deep in the mountains—that reconnects us to our inner knowing.
- Deep, Meaningful Conversations – Sometimes, talking things out with people who truly see you helps reflect back the answers you already have inside.
How to Strengthen Your Intuition in Daily Life
Once you leave a retreat, how do you keep that intuition connection strong? Here are a few ways:
- Slow down & get quiet. Even five minutes of stillness a day can help you hear your gut instincts.
- Notice how your body reacts. Your intuition often speaks through your body—tightness, relaxation, excitement, dread. Pay attention.
- Write it out. Journaling your thoughts, fears, and ideas can help uncover what your inner voice is trying to tell you.
- Make space for creativity. Painting, dancing, movement—anything that gets you out of your thinking brain and into your feeling self helps intuition flow.
- Practice trusting the small things. Don’t wait for a big life decision—start by trusting your gut in small daily choices. What do you feel like eating? Where do you feel like going? Who do you feel drawn to?
Final Thoughts: Your Intuition is Always Right
I’ll leave you with this—your intuition will never steer you wrong. It may not always lead you to the easiest path, but it will always lead you to the one meant for you.
So if you’ve been feeling that little nudge to slow down, reconnect, and get clear on what’s next—maybe it’s time to join us on retreat.
Because when you create the space to listen, your inner voice will lead you exactly where you need to be.
Trust yourself. You already know.
With love & intuition,
Shannon
