Hi, my loves! I frequently mention that our family-owned and operated Retreat Ranch is in the beautiful city of Marble Falls, Texas. But it’s just occurred to me that though I’ve shared pictures, I have never shared why we fell in love with this quaint slice of paradise. Saddle up loves. Let’s go for a ride.
Why Marble Falls, Texas?
My husband, Nathan, and I fell in love with Marble Falls on-site. We were moving back to Texas from spending the previous 5 years in California (and before that Dallas) and were searching for the perfect location to host our retreats and set up the Ranch. We needed to find a space away from the city so our guests could truly disconnect from the world. Additionally, we wanted to find a place that celebrated the beauty of the wilderness and where we could eventually get horses. It was important that we had enough acreage to build our forever home and set up our sustainable glamping accommodations.
No exaggeration, but this would be the most important move in my family’s life. We were about to establish a brick-and-mortar (rather well-refined wood 😊) for Mind & Body Complete. And again, there was that forever home element looming over our heads. When we lived in Dallas, we would frequently visit family in Marble Falls, Texas, and we knew in our soul this was where we needed to settle.
What’s in Marble Fall, Texas?
There are so many things to do in this little city! We wanted a location where our guests could explore plus find great places to eat. Marble Falls is in Burnet County, Texas, and gives a small city vibe with a population of about 7,033 people. This was a big plus because it also has well-established small businesses. A few things make this place truly heaven:
- Five picturesque lakes just outside the city’s perimeters. They’re part of the Highland Lakes on the Colorado River. There is also Lakeside Park on Lake Marble Falls’s shores.
- The finest wineries Texas has on offer (trust me, I’ve done a lot of taste tests *wink*)
- Outdoor activities galore!
- Boating
- Fishing
- Swimming
- Paddle boarding
- Kayaking
- Hiking
- Golfing
- A rich Texas history (that’s how we got our reclaimed 1860 House)
- Rolling, grassy hills to go exploring.
- Public art installations scattered all around town.
As you can see, it checked all of our boxes PLUS MORE! We knew our glampers, retreat guests, and yoga teacher trainees would have many things to keep them occupied when not exploring the Ranch.
When is the best time to visit Marble Falls?
Pardon my bluntness, but I $h#! you not Marble Falls is a literal slice of heaven; you can visit any time of the year! I may be slightly biased when I say it’s the most perfect place on Earth, but that’s another one of its biggest draws. We’re located just above the tropics, so we’re never too hot (minus the usual Texas heat) or cold. We do get some rainy storms, but nothing too crazy. In fact, it’s kinda awe-inspiring to watch a beautiful lightning storm spread across that Texas sky. Mother Earth is so amazing; watching Her many moods out by the Ranch is grounding, revitalizing, and truly inspiring.
Southern hospitality is ingrained in the city. The residents welcomed us and all our guests with wide open arms, and we’re a colorful group of people. I invite you to come down to visit us at Retreat Ranch. We’re waiting with yoga mats, great wine, yummy food, and lovely company. In other words, we offer nothing but euphoria.
XOXO Shannon
