Back in my corporate days (err a long time ago), one of the things I did was host occasional corporate leadership retreats and absolutely loved it. Then, after I left corporate I dilly dallied in some amazing things (did you know I used to own a few children’s art studios??) and then I hosted my first wellness retreat about 7+ years or so ago.
That is when Mind & Body Complete was born.
Seeing the transformation and growth in others and myself through these intimate setting opportunities- is something I can’t quite put into words- but if I had to try: fulfilling- joyful-humbling-transforming.
By the time I held my 3rd or 4th wellness retreat, I knew I wanted to open my own retreat center. Traveling to host retreats is amazing, but to create the full experience I really want my guests to have- I knew I needed my own space to do so.
About 4 years ago my husband and I found what we thought was the most perfect property. It was 20 acres overlooking a beautiful lake just outside of wine country in Southern California. Sounds dreamy? We thought so too. Till, during escrow, we found out we wouldn’t actually be able to build on it due to protected species issues. Move through four years of looking and finding properties we loved (including in a couple of other states) and then each one falling out of escrow for one reason or another (reason: wasn’t the right one!).
Two weeks ago we officially closed on our property.
I can’t believe I am actually telling you this: we found our retreat home.
I am in LOVE with this property. It feels right. It is right. And I can’t wait to welcome you to it.
Our retreat ranch is 46 acres located in hill country just outside of Austin, Texas.
Our goal is to be able to host our first retreat within 2 years (we don’t even have water yet sisters, it is RAW & beautiful).
We have a lot of work to do- but it is bringing our whole family so much joy to do so.
While we work on the land- you may see a lil less of my retreat availability. Instead of hosting 5-6 retreats a year during this time, it will be more like 1-2 as we spend many weekends and holidays (and more) on the ranch getting it ready.
You may be thinking, “are you still going to live in Southern California?” (even if you are not thinking that, let’s just answer it anyhow)…
No, we are not. We are moving to the ranch. My girls (well 2 of the 3) are super excited to have horses, animals and acres of land to romp through (and I am grateful my husband and father-in-law know what the hell to do with horses, animals and acres of land…). My oldest girl is just glad it is close to Austin 🙂 And this nonna (that is me) is stoked to live closer to grand baby and son/daughter in law.
I do have a favor to ask. Ok more than one.
1- pretend you still love me when I send you a ridiculous amount of updates and annoy you with pictures and all that jazz
2- say blessings/prayers/good thoughts for us as we dive into this project. Nothing (even the really amazing stuff) comes without challenges. And the power of collective sisterhood in love & well wishing is unstoppable.
Thank you for the support over the years. Thank you for the trust over the years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I can’t wait to invite you to our ranch. For us all to connect, grow & thrive.
And for a party of a lifetime.
