Let’s talk about that little voice in your head—the one that sometimes says, “You’re not enough,” or “You can’t do this,”or “Why even try?” Yeah, I know her. I’ve had my fair share of that voice over the years, and spoiler alert: she doesn’t get the mic anymore.
Here’s the truth: our minds are powerful, but they’re also trainable. Just like we train muscles in the gym, we can train our brains to think better thoughts—and that’s where mantras and affirmations come in.
I use these tools every single day. They’ve changed my mindset, improved my mental health, and helped me manifest some of the most incredible things in my life—like my 46-acre retreat ranch, bestselling books, and even the exact people I wanted to meet. (Yes, it really works.)
Why Mantras and Affirmations Work
Your brain is like a sponge—it soaks up whatever you feed it. And if you’re constantly feeding it self-doubt, negativity, or limiting beliefs, guess what’s going to grow?
BUT… if you start feeding it empowering thoughts like:
“I am worthy.”
“Everything is working out for me.”
“I am safe to receive all that I desire.”
You begin to shift the way you feel, the way you act, and the way you show up in the world.
And the best part? It doesn’t take hours a day or fancy equipment. Just a few words, repeated with intention, can start to rewire your brain for confidence, peace, abundance, and joy.
How We Use This at Retreats
At our retreats—whether it’s at the ranch under the Texas stars or barefoot on the beach with toes in the sand—we practice intentional affirmation work to help our guests reconnect with their truth. Here’s how:
Morning Mantras
We often start our mornings with an invitation to create your own mantra or intention—something like “Today I choose peace,” or “I am enough just as I am.” It sets the tone for the day and grounds you before the noise of the world creeps in. Other ideas:
“I am worthy of rest, joy, and deep connection”.
“Today, I choose to embrace peace and let go of what no longer serves me”.
“I trust the journey I’m on, knowing that I am exactly where I need to be”.
“I welcome clarity, courage, and transformation into my life”.
“My heart is open, my mind is calm, and my soul is aligned”.
“I give myself permission to slow down, breathe, and receive”.
“I radiate love, strength, and gratitude in all that I do”.
“I am deeply connected to myself, this moment, and the magic around me”.
Affirmation Journaling
During guided journaling sessions, we ask questions like:
What do I need to let go of today?
What truth do I want to embody?
What would it feel like to believe this new thought?
Guests write down affirmations they create or resonate with—and those pages become little lifelines they can return to over and over again.
Releasing Negative Thoughts
We often do fire ceremonies where guests write down negative thoughts or limiting beliefs they’re ready to release—then toss them into the fire (safely, of course) and replace them with a new, empowering affirmation.
There’s something magical about saying, “I let go of ‘I’m not good enough’ and choose ‘I am more than enough.’” And then watching those old words literally go up in smoke.
My 7-Day Manifestation Course
In my 7-Day Manifestation Course, we use mantras and affirmations daily as part of the practice. Each day focuses on a new area—self-worth, abundance, joy, purpose, and more—and includes a journal prompt, a mantra, and a mini action step.
It’s simple, powerful, and only takes about 10 minutes a day. You’d be amazed at the results people get just by shifting their language and energy. And let me be clear: you don’t have to “have it all together” to start. Just a willingness to say something new to yourself can change everything.
One of my favorite affirmations from the course is:
“I don’t chase. I attract. What belongs to me will find me.”
Repeat that a few times and feel how different it is from hustle, fear, and scarcity energy.
Try This Right Now:
Pause for a moment and say this out loud (yes, actually do it!):
“I am safe, I am loved, I am enough.”
Now say it again, slower.
And once more—with meaning.
Feel that? That’s your nervous system responding to love instead of lack. And the more you do it, the more your brain starts to believe it.
Final Thoughts
Using mantras and affirmations isn’t about pretending everything’s perfect. It’s about creating a new internal narrative that lifts you up instead of tearing you down. And whether you’re on a retreat, doing the 7-day course, or just whispering kind words to yourself in the mirror—you are actively rewiring your brain for a better life.
If you’re ready to drop the negative thought spiral and start speaking LIFE into your days, I’d love to have you join me—either at a retreat or inside the 7-day manifestation experience.
Because you, my friend, are already worthy. You just have to remember!
With love and affirmations,
Shannon
