Top 5 ways to boost our immune system
There is always an opportunity to boost our immune system support- but now more than ever we are looking for effective ways to boost our health.
From vitamins, to supplements, to rain dance hats- there are a multitude of things you will find online that claim to have a positive effect on our immune system. However it is important to note that everyone is different- so you need to pay attention to what works for you.
There are some key components that work well for everyone:
- Hydrate. This is an overstated yet underused tool in our health. Drink lots of water. If you don’t drink much or any now, start small- maybe one 8 ounce glass. Then each day slightly increase it. How do you know you are hydrated; your urine is clear or almost clear (unless you take specific supplements that change your urine color).
- Get enough sleep. We do not get enough sleep as a nation. Most of it is due to poor sleep routines. The rest is due to stress or health related issues. A few ways to create a healthy sleep routine are: stay away from heavy or sugary foods/drinks at least 2 hours before bed (yes, that includes alcohol), do not watch tv or scroll on your phone at least 30 minutes prior to bedtime, only get in your bed when it is time to actually shut your eyes, drink a yummy sleepy time tea. Create a sleep routine and get your zzz’s.
- Limit your stress. Easier said than done right? This can be assisted by cutting out the drama and negativity in your life (hello social media and news!). Stay away from toxic people, gossipers and negative naysayers. Stress and fear will cause more harm and damage than ANY OTHER VIRUS, BUG, DISEASE. It is the #1 cause of heart issues- health issues- period. Cut the negativity out.
- Healthy choices. Here comes the kicker…eat right and move right. You should be intentional about the food you put in your body and how you move your body. Lot’s of fried/fatty/sugary foods will stress your immune system the f&$k out. Consider making choices that include whole foods. Limit your alcohol/cut out tobacco. Make smart choices about sugar (possibly swapping out regular sugar for a healthy substitute such as organic Pyure Stevia). Also, it only takes 15-20 minutes of intentional movement a day: biking, walking, running, jogging, swimming, yoga, dancing, etc. We all have 20 minutes a day to focus on our health (yes, you do).
- Orgasms. Yes you read that right. Whether you’re climaxing with a partner or during a solo session, orgasms help with all kinds of things, from lowering stress levels, increasing immune support through increased immunoglobulin as well as reduce heart disease and type two diabetes. Not to mention you are just damn happier with the increase of oxytocin – the feel good hormone that is released with orgasms. On your own and need help here? Check this baby out.
